Venezuela Táchira grows in the magnificent Andean Cordillera de Mérida along Venezuela’s western border with Colombia. Mineral-rich with ideal microclimates and excellent growing elevations (4,000 feet+ above sea level), Táchira boasts a long, vibrant history of exceptional coffee production. While Venezuela currently produces less than 1% of the world’s coffee, the nation’s exports once rivaled those of Colombia and Brazil; in the 1830s, Venezuela was actually the third-largest global exporter of green beans -- a rank it held through the early 1970s. Venezuela's coffee exports declined in the 1970s, when the nation shifted focus from agricultural to oil exports, and by the early 2000s, Venezuelan coffee was rarely exported. Needless to say, we are thrilled to share this stunning Venezuelan Táchira coffee! Medium roasted with an exceptionally smooth body, Venezuela Táchira is naturally balanced with dominant notes of sweet nut, pear, delicate red wine, and milk chocolate.
