Rare and uniquely rich for an Ethiopian, Lekempti (also known as Nekempti) coffee is a naturally-sweet, aromatic heirloom varietal from the Western Wellega Zone of Ethiopia’s Oromia region. Naturally grown 4,900+ feet above sea level by members of the Wollega Oromo tribe, this lovely coffee is sun-dried and naturally processed to preserve the beans’ delicate citrus and fruit notes. Known for its wild to semi-wild coffee forests and traditional harvesting methods, coffee from the Oromia region is said to be sweetened by the forest’s native bees, lending the cup rich, subtle hints of honey. Medium roasted with good body and mild acidity, Lekempti coffee is balanced with notes of sweet fruits, caramel, and a hint of vanilla.
